The education startup world is a complex and rapidly-evolving one and luckily there are many folks trying to bring some coherence to this space. In this section we attempt to demystify some of the nuances of the K12 schools and highlight some of the trends we’ve observed, especially within the latest crop of edtech startups.

New Schools Venture Fund, in partnership with Ed Elements and Innosight Institute, have taken on the audacious task of trying to categorize startups in this space with their Edtech Market Map (launched Oct 2011.)  Kudos to them as this is quite the challenging endeavor as it feels that new players join the mix each week.

There is also an ongoing conversation on Quora around “What are some interesting education startups and why are they interesting?” that mentions some of the smaller/newer kids on the block.
